Fernando Verdasco won his 2nd title of the season today, beating Robin Soderling 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the final of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in Barcelona, Spain.
This is a good homecoming for the Spaniard who has been playing well on the clay heading to the French Open which begins in only a few weeks.
"I have been training here since I was 15 or 16 years old so it's always a very special tournament and winning here is an incredible feeling," said Verdasco, who only decided to play on a wild card at the last minute. "I wasn't planning to play here and I won the tournament so imagine how I feel - amazing."
"I hope Rafa is not here again next year so I can win again," he joked, before he and Soderling sprayed the ball boys and girls and each other with champagne.
Really, who sprays underage kids with champagne? Sounds like a R. Kelly video to me.
