Tournament Results for the Week.

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia  Alisa Kleybanova pulled the upset and dominated fellow Russian, Elena Dementieva in the final 6-3, 6-2.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic had to wait an extra day to defend his title, when the final of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  Djokovic was up 7-5 and 2-0 on Mikhail Youzhny when the skies opened up and rain postponed the final until the next day.  A refreshed Youzhny ended up coming back to win the set forcing the final to a third set.  The champion Novak Djokovic was able to take control and win his 2nd straight title in Dubai. 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.

A couple big-hitting Europeans met in the finals of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships in Delray Beach, Florida, United States.  Latvian, Ernests Gulbis defeated Croatian, "Dr. Ivo" Karlovic 6-2, 6-3 to win his first ever ATP Tour title.

The Mexican Open, a joint tournament in Acapulco, Mexico crowned its champions on Saturday night.  In the womens final Venus Williams as predicted outlasted an average field that gave her little challenge.  Williams defeated Slovakian, Polona Hercog 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the final.  This victory was both back-to-back titles for the year, and her 2nd straight Mexican Open.  Venus is on fire right now and is making a push in the rankings with her recent success.

The mens final in Acapulco pitted best friends, business partners, and Spanish Davis Cup teammates against eachother.  For the 2nd straight week David Ferrer and Juan Carlos Ferrero met in the finals of an ATP Tour tournament being played on clay.  Last week it was Ferrero winning in Buenos Aires, and this week Ferrer took his revenge with a tough victory over his BFF 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.  Ferrero and Ferrer now can discuss how their names are oh-so similar and how they will attack the Swiss Davis Cup Team this coming weekend, as they will be the two singles players on the Spanish team.  This was a great win for Daveeeeed and put him in the winners circle for the first time in almost two years.  The win moved Ferrer up one spot to #16 in the world, and Ferrero's current hot streak has moved him up to #14.

Thats an awesome silver pear you have there Daveeeeeeeeeeeeed.
