Monterrey, Mexico Tournament Preview.

Its a pretty slow week in tennis this week.  Only one womens tournament is being played, and the mens ATP Tour is off this week for Davis Cup play.  Today will be a preview of the WTA Event, Monterrey Open.  Later in the week will be the Davis Cup preview for the weekend.

The Monterrey Open is a hardcourt tournament in Monterrey, Mexico.  The winner of this WTA event will take home $37,000 American dollars and 280 ranking points.

Top 4 seeds:
1. Jelena Jankovic (#9 in the world)
2. Daniela Hantuchova (#24)
3. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (#27)
4. Dominika Cibulkova (#28)

Other notables in the field this week: Agnes Szavay, Anabel Medina Garrigues, Aleksandra Wozniak, Lucie Safarova, Alize Cornet, Polona "boss" Hercog, Sorana Cirstea, and Sara Errani.  There are 4 ladies that also played in Midland in the field as well.  Laura Granville, Anna Tatishvili, Vania King, and the girl who never takes a week off Lucie Hradecka is also playing in Monterrey this week.

On paper Jelena Jankovic is heads and shoulders above this weeks field, but she is also prone for being upset.  By the look of the DRAW Jankovic should come out of the top half and be in the finals.  The bottom half is a little more congested and tricky to predict.  Daniela Hantuchova is solid and has been playing fairly well.  Dominika Cibulkova in my opinion is the better player, but has been slowed by injuries.  If Cibulkova is healthy she will meet Jankovic in the final.  That is what I'm banking on, and I am predicting a Jankovic over Cibulkova final.
